For the remainder of April, my Blogging from A to Z April Challenge posts will include: (1) the font/prompt info, (2) a brief story pitch inspired by the chosen font, and (3) any supplemental creative fodder (e.g., notes, character sketches, perspective lines, images) I chose to share.

The setting for this flash concept is equal parts medieval, science fiction, and fantasy. It involves a female warrior/soldier named Mayson Daxx.

For Day 24, I chose the font Tear by Gem Fonts as my prompt and inspiration for today’s flash fiction.

Brief Synopsis

Mayson Daxx is a warrior, born and trained. As an elite guard, she has sworn to protect and defend the royal family… forfeiting life as lover, mother, and wife in the service of her King. When she spurns the advances of one of the King’s most powerful ministers, he retaliates by falsely accusing her of an intimate affair with a fellow soldier and betraying her oath. Now, Mayson must find a way to prove her innocence and regain her post in time to protect the royal family from the minister’s murderous plans to take the throne for himself.
